Kenny brought to the table several years of university experience when he joined South Eastern Book Company in 2008. Kenny was an assistant basketball coach for both Georgia State University and Murray State University. After coaching the Murray State Racers, Kenny was promoted to Associate Athletic Director.

In 2004, he left Murray State to join the C.A. Jones Management Group as the Chief Operating Officer of Global Communications. When CA Jones Management Group acquired South Eastern Book Company in 2008, Kenny was named Vice President and later promoted to President.
